Kabhi Aana Zindagi holds a special place in my literary journey - not only because it is my Hindi poetry collection, but because of the remarkable response it received from the late Sagar Sarhadi, the celebrated writer, producer and director of Hindi cinema.

After completing the manuscript, I sent it to my friend, the late Darshan Darvesh, a poet, writer and filmmaker, for his opinion. Darshan shared the manuscript with his close friend Sagar Sarhadi, who read the collection and, to my surprise, wrote its preface himself. He conveyed through Darshan that he felt there was no need to make any changes to the poems.

In his preface, “Shayari Mein Samvad Ki Aamad…” (“The Arrival of Dialogue in Poetry”), Sagar Sarhadi saw in the collection a serious and thoughtful poetic voice. He particularly appreciated the way the poems engage with society, truth, faith, injustice, hope and the human condition - not merely by making statements, but by entering into a conversation with the reader.

For me, his words remain one of the most meaningful acknowledgements the book has received. Coming from a writer of his stature, they gave Kabhi Aana Zindagi a place in my literary journey that goes beyond the book itself.

The collection is ultimately an attempt to speak with life - to question it, confront it, understand it and, despite its contradictions and difficulties, continue to welcome it.

“शायरी में संवाद की आमद...”

कंवलजीत भुल्लर पंजाबी के युवा वर्ग का संजीदा सोच वाला शायर है। उसकी सेहतमंद सोच अपने देश को कभी सलीके से लेती है और कभी अंतर्भाव की फैली हुई मानसिकता के साथ।

और इन्हीं प्रयासों में से उभर के आने की संजीदा कोशिश है “कभी आना जिंदगी”।

कंवलजीत भुल्लर का उस बात के लिए ज्यादा स्वागत करना बनता है कि शायद पहली बार मैंने धीमे से शायरी में संवाद की आमद की आहट सुनी है, महसूस की है और कितनी ही जगह उसको जी के भी देखा है।

कंवलजीत की कौन सी ऐसी नज़्म है जिसमें मैंने संवाद को अपनी ओर आते हुए न देखा हो। “कभी आना जिंदगी” का हर पन्ना किसी न किसी लक्ष्य की बात करता है।

जितना लिख सका हूं, उससे बहुत ज्यादा की हकदार है ये शायरी, इसलिए बाकी का हक अपने पास रखकर नज़्मों के जरिए कंवलजीत के बोले हुए सच को स्वीकार करता हूं।
